Setoguchi is expected to finalize a tryout contract with the Kings

It’s that point in the offseason where NHL teams start inviting the remaining unsigned free agents to training camp on tryout contracts to see who can earn a spot on a roster.

Already on Tuesday we saw Marc-Andre Bergeron get a training camp look with Columbus Blue Jackets.

It seems that Devin Setoguchi will also be joining that list.

According to Jon Rosen of the Kings Insider, Setoguchi is expected to finalize a tryout contract with the team to get a look with the team in training camp.

Setoguchi was out of the NHL last season and spent the year playing for Davos HC in Switzerland where he was nearly a point-per-game player.

Originally a first-round draft pick by the San Jose Sharks back in 2007, Setoguchi scored at least 20 goals in three consecutive seasons earlier in his career — including a career-high 31 goals in 2008-09 — before he cheap jerseys free shipping was traded to the Minnesota Wild as part of the Brent Burns trade. Once in Minnesota he was never really able to get back to the level of production he had in San Jose and eventually bounced around the NHL, going from Minnesota, to Winnipeg, to Calgary.

He was in Maple Leafs camp on a tryout contract last season but did not make the roster. He last played in the NHL in 2014-15 for the Flames, recording zero points in 12 games.

Given that the Kings are returning a cheap hockey jerseys team that finished with the 102 points in the standings and already have a pretty full roster Setoguchi is really going to need an impressive camp to earn a spot in that lineup.

In 471 career games at the NHL level the new 29-year-old Setoguchi has 127 goals and 122 assists.
